How the Hampshire Directory works
One county index, 13 town directories
Each Hampshire town we cover has its own directory: Waterlooville, Petersfield, Aldershot, Gosport, Fareham, Horndean, Eastleigh, Hayling Island, Emsworth, Havant, Romsey, Clanfield, Cowplain. Those sites hold the full business profiles, the local guides and the news for their town.
The Hampshire Directory sits above them. It answers the county-sized questions, like who the highest-rated electricians in Hampshire are, and then sends you to the right town site for the detail. There are no business profiles here on purpose: each business has one profile, on its own town’s directory.
Where the listings come from
The 2,356 businesses here are read straight from the town directories, and were last refreshed on 10 October 2026. We don’t cover the whole county yet. A town’s businesses appear here once that town has a directory.
How the rankings are worked out
County rankings use each business’s Google rating, then its number of Google reviews to separate ties. A business needs 25 or more reviews to be ranked. The ratings are Google’s, not ours, and they are the figures recorded on the date shown on each page. Paying for an advert on a town directory does not change a business’s position in a county ranking.
For business owners
To be listed, add your business on your town’s directory. To correct or remove a listing, use the contact page on that town’s site, and the change follows through to here. To advertise in several towns at once, see The Directory King.
